Girl With The Cane
Of course, the Girl With The Cane blog is one of my cornerstone projects, and will remain so for as long as I write it.
I started “Girl With The Cane” in June 2011 with just the idea that I wanted a place to talk about disability issues and my thoughts on them. I never figured that over 150 posts later I would have a 2011 Canadian Blog Award for Third Place in the Best Personal Blog Category and a nomination for Ninjamatics’ Canadian Weblog Awards for Best Feminist Blog, as well as links to some of the top disability advocates in the field.
“Girl With the Cane”, named for what I have always imagined that the people in my small town who don’t know my name call me when they see me on the street, is a labour of love for me. It’s also opened doors that I never imagined possible.
If you have any comments or suggestions for the blog, please contact me. I love hearing from readers.
